More than 40 people joined the stampede at a hotel in Salou, just south of Tarragona on Spain’s Costa Daurada.

Chris, from Glasgow, Scotland, watched the rush as the poolside opened at 9am during his week-long stay at the hotel this month.

‘It was a manic race and scramble for the sunbeds surrounding the pool at the hotel’, he said.

He said: ‘Some people jut rolled out of their bed, queued up, mad dashedto secure the bed then they were seen going back to their hotel rooms or off for breakfast.’

Chris, known as ABC Man on Tiktok, uploaded the video of the scramble, set to music from the Benny Hill show.

It comes as one holidaymaker shared a controversial tactic for bagging his favoured spot.

Tom Caunce targeted ‘repeat offenders’ at a hotel in Mallorca with itching spray on their towels after they had disappeared off for breakfast.

The prank, which was viewed more than 864,000 times, divided users online, some of whom agreed with Caunce’s belief it was a ‘playful payback’.
