Super Bowl LIX predictions: Eagles or Chiefs?

NEW ORLEANS — The Sun-Times’ Bears experts pick the winner of Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Eagles and Chiefs (5:30 p.m., Fox 32):

Rick Morrissey

Chiefs, 31-28: Sorry to everyone who’s sick of the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift and the rest of America’s circus. But here comes a third straight Super Bowl title for the team that won’t go away. Season: 13-4.

Rick Telander

Chiefs, 27-24: How can anybody possibly pick against Mahomes and the Chiefs, when the refs, TV crews, pop stars, NFL execs, football gods and Pat Riley are on their side? Not me. Season: 9-8.

Scoop Jackson

Chiefs, 31-24: “2K Sa” Day won’t be enough. Not this time. The season-long “mediocrity” of the Chiefs will come to an end. Saving their best game since Feb. 11, 2024, for Sunday. AKA: “3X Charm” Day. History, uninterrupted. Season: 10-7.

Patrick Finley

Eagles, 23-20: Give Vic Fangio two weeks to prepare for anyone, even Mahomes, and I like his chances. I like the Eagles to jump out to a 10-point lead and try to make the Chiefs even more one-dimensional. Season: 14-3.

Jason Lieser

Chiefs, 30-26: The Eagles have had the most talented roster in the NFL over the last three seasons, but the Chiefs have a way of flipping a switch in the biggest moments. Mahomes, Kelce and Chris Jones become unstoppable in games like this. Season: 12-5.

Mark Potash

Chiefs, 27-24: The Eagles have the formula to beat the Chiefs. But for some reason, playing to your strengths is often problematic against the Chiefs. If it’s close, they have a knack for finding a way to win. Season: 11-6.
