A SWAT standoff has concluded over seven hours after a man was shot and killed during a car sale early Wednesday in Auburn Gresham.
The situation ended about 8 a.m., according to a police spokesperson, who said the alleged gunman, who had holed himself up inside a home, was not in custody.
Around 12:35 a.m., a 26-year-old man met with someone for the sale of a car in the 7800 block of South Paulina Street when the person he was meeting shot him in the head, Chicago police said.
The man, identified as Cristhian Duran Diaz, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
A witness told officers they saw the shooter enter a nearby home and SWAT responded, officials said.
No one was in custody and further details weren’t immediately available.
Area 2 detectives are investigating.
