Teen boy’s body found in pond at Mitcham Common as cops probe ‘unexpected death’

A TEENAGE boy’s body has tragically been pulled from a pond in a London park.

Cops today confirmed the teen, whose age has not been confirmed, had been dragged from Bidders Pond on Mitcham Common last night.

Despite paramedics’ desperate attempts, the boy could not be saved.

Met Police are now probing the youngster’s death, which officers said was “unexpected”.

The force today said: “At about 18:35hrs on Wednesday, 3 July, officers recovered the body of a teenage male from Bidder Pond on Mitcham Common.

“Sadly, he was confirmed dead at the scene. His family has been informed. The death is currently being treated as unexpected.

“His family are currently being supported by specialist officers.”

London Ambulance Service added: “We were called 6.39pm on Wednesday 3 July to reports of an incident at the junction of Commonside East and Watneys Road, Mitcham.

“We sent resources to the scene, including members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer.

“Sadly, a patient died at the scene and was taken to hospital by a third party.”
