Teenage boy dies in Birmingham lake after going missing in water

Rescue teams are in boats using long poles and search equipment frantically trying to find the teen. Distraught relatives are by the pool's side waiting for news. One person commented on facebook saying '2 lads on a boat. 1 lad has not come back up. Police was called. A body has been found after a teenage boy went missing in a popular swimming lake in Birmingham.

The boy was swimming in Powell’s Pool in Sutton Park at around 6pm on Thursday when he went missing.

Police, the fire service, paramedics and council officers were all called to the scene and the lake was cordoned off.

The boy’s body was found not long after. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: ‘We are supporting the family of the boy at this tragic time.
