The terrifying moment a baby’s pram clipped the side of a moving train has been caught on camera.

The incident happened at Banbury railway station in Oxfordshire on Saturday (June 8) as a buggy carrying a three-month-old baby rolled towards the tracks.

The pram clipped the side of the Cross Country train as it failed to stop at the platform.

Onlookers said the baby’s mum and grandmother looked on horrified after they’d tried to stop the collision, having seen the pram roll over the yellow line at the edge of the platform.

The impact sent the buggy spinning down the platform, and it landed on its side before someone managed to rescue the baby inside.

Paramedics were called and they checked over the baby, who was thankfully unharmed during the terrifying incident.

It’s thought the incident occurred because the train driver had overran the platform thinking his train had eight carriages rather than four, a railway industry source claimed.

The train ended up coming to a stop much further down the platform than anticipated.

It’s not clear how the pram ended up rolling towards the moving train in the first place.

CrossCountry, the train operator, was recently given renewed contracts by the Department for Transport despite only half of its trains arriving on time in 2023.

Network Rail and CrossCountry Trains have been contacted for comment.
