A Texas man died in a skiing accident Wednesday at Aspen Highlands Ski Resort, according to the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office.

The accident involving Clifford Hastings Johnson III, 76, of Houston was witnessed by members of the Aspen Highlands Ski Patrol, the coroner’s office said in a news release.

Johnson was taken by helicopter to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.

The coroner’s office wrote in a news release that Johnson died from multiple blunt-force injuries, describing his death as an accident.
