Summary List Placement

Job openings have plunged during the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK. Unemployment reached a two-year high in July, and the pandemic has claimed 750,000 jobs since March.

But some jobs continue to be in high demand among employers — particularly essential roles such as care workers. According to the job site CV-Library, care professional vacancies have risen in 2020 compared to 2019. In total, nine job titles had more than 1,000 vacancies listed between June and August on CV-Library, the site said in data given to Business Insider. All of the openings except one had a salary below the national annual average of £30,500 ($39,942).

Based on the data, we’ve listed the top 10 most in-demand jobs, starting with the most popular. We’ve included the number of roles that have been listed on CV-Library, some companies currently hiring on LinkedIn, the take-home pay when you account for taxes, and, where available, the average salary for the job in the UK, according to data from the job website Glassdoor.
