Koenigsegg is keeping the 250-mph world speed record in the family as the torch passes from the Regera to the Jesko. In the hands of test driver Markus Lundh, the completely road-legal Jesko Absolut clocked a zero-to-250-to-zero mph time of 28.27 seconds, easily besting the Regera’s 2023 time of 28.81 seconds.
Incredibly, in the exact same run, Lundh set three more production-car world records, including: zero-to-250 mph in 19.2 seconds; zero-to-400 km/h in 18.82 seconds; and zero-to-400-to-zero km/h in 27.83 seconds. Oh yeah, he also hit the Jesko Absolut’s 256-mph top speed.

The test run unfolded at 5 a.m. to maximize the potential for calm winds and low air temperatures. According to Car and Driver, the car only had two modifications: Its standard seat was switched for one from a Koenigsegg One:1 and a roll cage was added. On E85 fuel, which is offered in most U.S gas stations, its twin-turbocharged V8 develops just under 1,600 horsepower. Koenigsegg engineers also worked tirelessly to bring the Jesko’s drag coefficient—a measure of how drag is produced as a vehicle moves through the air—below a certain threshold for this Absolut edition.

On the heels of this success, CEO Christian von Koenigsegg has his sights set on an even greater goal: “This record run validated the accuracy of the simulated and calculated performance of the Jesko Absolut, which gives us great confidence in its ability to outright be the fastest fully homologated production car in the world.”
