  • “Jesus Hopped the A Train” is Stephen Adly Guirgis’ drama about a young Latino (Lenin Izquierdo) charged with murder who is incarcerated in New York City’s infamous Rikers Island prison.   • Otherworld Theatre Company brings its hit original musical, “Twihard! A Twilight Musical Parody,” to a much larger venue. The reimagination of Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” saga is filled with humor and catchy original tunes. Written and directed by Tiffany Keane Schaefer with music by Brian Rasmussen.   • Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre stages “Pass Over,” Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu’s drama about two young men who dream of their “promised land” and the stranger who wanders in and threatens their plan. Comedy

  • Comedy fans won’t want to miss the iO Festival, which features a massive roster of performers over four days.   • The Seldoms’ popular piece, “Superbloom,” makes its North Shore debut at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The multimedia work combines dance, live music, animation, costumes and lighting design in a work “about radical beauty, wildness and wildflowers and the resilience and fragility of the natural world.” At 7 p.m. July 25-26 and 2 and 5 p.m. July 27 at Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook, Glencoe.   • “Pixy Liao: Relationship Material” is the Chinese-born multidisciplinary artist’s first Chicago exhibition and features around 45 works, including sculptures, music videos and selections from her photographic series “Experimental Relationship.” The humorous self-portraits, made in collaboration with her partner, Takahiro Morooka, chronicle the dynamics of their relationship as it evolves over time.   • Cabinet of Curiosity’s “Kazoozapalooza Pedal Powered Program: The Black Man from Macon” is an outdoor bike-powered celebratory spectacle that tells the story of Alabama Vest, the inventor of the kazoo.
