Underwood Family Farms Fall Harvest Festival: The 28th annual event offers a multitude of activities and a “pick-your-own” pumpkin patch, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. through Oct. 31. Nights of the Jack 2025: Family-friendly Halloween event with illuminated jack-o-lanterns set in theme installations on a nearly one-mile walking trail, plus live pumpkin carving demonstrations, face painting, a psychic, a souvenir shop, food trucks and, for ages 21 and older, a “Spookeasy” bar, dates through Nov. 1. Admission is by timed ticket entry, from 6-9 p.m. No tickets sold at the door. No refunds. Rain does not cancel event. Carved – Descanso Gardens: A display of lit-up jack-o-lanterns and other installations, 6-10 p.m. through Oct. 30. Tickets must be purchased in advance. The Cortège – A Festive Funeral for Our Times: Theatrical experience with music and pageantry 8 p.m. Oct. 9. Doors open, 6:30 p.m. Entry is not permitted once the procession has begun. It is recommended to arrive in time for the Prelude (check the website for schedule). Minimum age: parental guidance due to mature themes. Los Angeles Haunted Hayride – Midnight Falls: Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group presents the 17th season of  Midnight Falls, a mysterious village where it is always Halloween, through Nov. 2. This year Elvira, Mistress of Darkness (Cassandra Peterson), has a partnership with the event (“Elvira’s Trick or Treat Mayhem”). Scare zones: Haunted Hayride, Hellbilly Halloween, and Monáe Manor (a maze collaboration with Janelle Monáe). Also, the “Monte Revolta Show,” a “theatrical macabre experience,” “Madame Aurora’s Seance Theatre,” “Elvira’s Scary-Go-Round” carnival ride and “Midnight Falls Axe Throwing” ($5 extra to learn how to throw an axe and five tries to hit the bullseye). Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights: The 2025 event includes the haunted houses: “Fallout,” “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” “The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks,” Jason Universe,” “Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America,” “Poltergeist,” “Scarecrow: Music by Slash,” “Terrifier,” and the “Terror Tram – Enter the Blumhouse.” In addition, four “sinister” scare zones: “Carnival of Carnage,” “Chainsaw Clownz,” “Murder of Crowz,” and “Noche de Brujas.” Plus live entertainment shows and selected rides will be open. Reign of Terror Haunted House: Walk-through 12 connected but different haunts, 7-11 p.m. Oct. 10-12. Event runs on selected dates: (Oct. 17-19; Oct. 23-26; Oct. 30-31; Nov. 1; and Nov. 2 (on this date all shows are “lights out,” with a glo-stick). Minimum age: 13. No costumes or masks allowed for patrons. Forneris Farms – Spinning the Magic of Fall Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch: Make plans to explore this year’s corn maze design beginning, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 11-12. Maze hours: 1-5 p.m. Monday and Friday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; through Nov. 2 (the corn maze is closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Spider Pavilion – Natural History Museum Los Angeles County: Learn about spiders at the museum’s outdoor, open-air structure that houses 10-15 species of spiders (mostly orb spiders), through Nov. 30. In addition, there is a display of tarantulas and other large spiders housed inside terrariums before the pavilion’s entrance. Plan a visit to the Spider Pavilion in advance as admission is by a reserved time slot (and for 30-minutes); $10 (must also purchase a museum admission). Museum hours: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Sunday (but closed on the first Tuesday of the month and some holidays). Enchanted Halloweekends at the Discovery Cube Los Angeles – Sylmar: The museum presents a “Wonders of Wizardry” stage show, corn and hay bale mazes, and theme trick-or-treat stations on weekends, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 11-12. The special weekends-only event is included with general admission, through Nov. 2. Admission $25 ages 15-61; $20 ages 62 and older and ages 3-14.
