Tributes have poured in for a toddler who died after a collision near his home in Dublin.

The young boy was involved in a fatal crash in the Irish capital on Tuesday has been named locally as Theo McEnroe.

The collision happened at about 2pm in the Jobstown neighbourhood.

The toddler was taken to Children’s Health Ireland unit at Crumlin, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Theo’s dad paid tribute to him on social media: ‘My son you are my world my boy I’ll forever love you son I love you so much this feels like a bad dream.’

Fundraisers have now been set up to help support Theo’s family.

Christina Herbert, who set up a GoFundMe page, said: ‘On the 7th of October we suffered a deep loss in our family.

‘Baby Theo brought so much joy to his family and everyone that knew him. If you could help out in any way we would be so grateful.

‘Condolences to his Mammy, Daddy, sisters, grandparents, extended family and friends.’

Almost 200 people have donated to the page so far, raising nearly €4,000.

Loved ones and friends have also paid tribute to the toddler.

A friend said: ‘Beautiful boy we will miss you so much.’

Another one said: ‘Beautiful boy with two amazing parents and big sisters he was so loved.’

The Dominics Parish Church in Tallaght said in a social media post: ‘We remember in our prayers today the young boy who died tragically in Jobstown yesterday. We keep him and his families in our thoughts as we go about our day.’

The Garda said in a statement: ‘A male infant was transferred from the scene to Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

‘A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has being appointed to support the family at this time.

‘A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators has since been conducted.

‘No further information is being made available.’
