Tories ‘not worried’ after Reform UK overtakes party in poll for first time

Nigel Farage has claimed the ruling Conservatives are ‘about to implode’ after Reform UK overtook the party in a new poll.

For the last 18 months, almost every poll has been the same: Labour ahead of the Conservatives by double digits, with other major parties trailing behind.

But a survey released just before a fiery seven-way ITV debate placed Farage’s insurgent party at 1% above the Tories.

‘We are now the opposition to Labour,’ Farage told the audience.

This morning, it seems the Tories are putting on a brave face. ‘I’m not worried about it,’ a Conservative minister said.

With Rishi Sunak taking a break from campaigning as he attends the G7 summit, other politicians are still heading the road today.
