A train with 66 people on board has hit into a tractor and trailer on a level crossing in Herefordshire.

A number of people have suffered minor injuries on the five-carriage Transport for Wales Manchester-to-Cardiff train.

Six people are being assessed by medics, according to the British Transport Police.

The crash happened on a track at Nordan Farm, Leominster, just after 10.45am this morning.

All lines are blocked between Hereford and Craven Arms with disruption expected until 7pm, according to National Rail.

A Transport for Wales spokesperson has told people to check before they travel and that tickets would be accepted by other operators.

A post on X from the train company reads: ‘Due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line between Hereford and Shrewsbury all lines are blocked.

‘Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.’

The air ambulance, ambulance crews and British Transport Police (BTP) are at the scene.

Fire crews and West Mercia Police are also in attendance.

The fire service confirmed that the train has not derailed and there is no fire.

A spokesperson for BTP said inquiries are ongoing to understand the circumstances that led to the crash.

All roads in the area are open as normal.
