A TRAINEE teacher who shared videos of newborn babies being raped walked free from court yesterday.
Jacob Chouffot, 26, distributed and received more than 1,000 of the most serious Category A films and photos.
But he dodged a custodial sentence as a judge said he was not a direct danger to the public.
Chouffot, of Iffley, Oxford, admitted 14 counts of making, possessing and distributing child abuse images between 2015-2019.
The city’s crown court heard he quit his job after being arrested in November 2022. In a police interview, he admitted possessing the vile stash, which he had shared with paedophiles on WhatsApp and Telegram.
Chouffot was not charged until this July, 18 months later, and pleaded guilty at his first hearing.
The court heard he used two phones to share and store photos and videos.
One contained 570 Category A images including 484 videos, featuring children as young as six months.
His other device contained 462 Category A snaps and clips of newborn babies.
Across the two phones, he had 228 Category B and 63 Category C photos.
Prosecutor Julian Lynch said: “The obvious aggravating feature is the very young age of the children.
“This is more than a trivial number of mostly moving images.”
Chouffot’s lawyer Kellie Enever said her client had experienced abuse from age 11 and was self-medicating with drink and drugs during his offending.
Judge Nigel Daly agreed to reduce the term to two years suspended jail time as the mitigating factors outweighed the age of victims.
The judge told Chouffot: “This offending involves two devices and multiple different categories.
“These include babies. This is quite shocking.”
Chouffot was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, must do 30 rehab sessions and 180 hours of unpaid work.
He must also sign the sex offenders register for ten years.
