Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross’ Future Ruins film-TV festival canceled

The highly anticipated Future Ruins Festival, scheduled to bring together music composers and film lovers on Nov. 8, has been canceled.

“Unfortunately Future Ruins will not move forward this year,” organizers said in a statement. “The reality is, due to a number of logistical challenges and complications, we feel we cannot provide the experience that’s defined what this event was always intended to be. Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to re-think and re-evaluate. Meanwhile, we are sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate all the interest and support. Refunds will be automatically issued and ticket holders will receive an email with more information.”

The event, produced by Live Nation and by award-winning composers, musicians, and longtime collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, was scheduled to be held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, with high-caliber composers leading the bill. The lineup featured Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, Questlove, Mark Mothersbaugh, and more, in a setting that aimed to reimagine their work for a live audience. Electronic sets, live bands and orchestral performances were part of the festival’s plan to showcase musical compositions from films such as “Edward Scissorhands,” “Dawn of the Dead,” “The Thing,” and other iconic movies.

“It’s about giving people who are, literally, the best in the world at taking audiences on an emotional ride via music the opportunity to tell new stories in an interesting live setting,” said Reznor in a previous press statement released in May announcing the festivals.

The festival’s cancellation comes after Nine Inch Nails announced the second leg of their “Peel It Back” tour, which begins on Feb. 5 and will include a stop in Southern California at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The band is also scheduled to perform at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, as Nine Inch Noize, with electronic music producer and collaborator Boys Noize. The set is expected to be a blend of the band’s sound with dark electronic music, featured in their recent live shows.
