President Donald Trump gave a lengthy address at the McDonald’s Impact Summit 2025 in Washington, touching on subjects from Kamala Harris to the lack of tartar sauce with his meal.
‘I’m honoured to stand before you as the very first former McDonald’s fry cook ever to become president of the United States,’ he said, referencing his election run stunt, which saw him work in the kitchen of a chain in Philadelphia.
‘And I actually was there for about 30 minutes, and that was 30 minutes longer than Kamala was there, right?’
Trump went on to speak about how his administration is ‘doing better than we’ve ever done as a country’, and said America was in its ‘golden age’.
‘Prices are coming down, and all of that stuff,’ he said.
He also touched on the bombing of Iran earlier this year, claiming the US has the ‘greatest military equipment anywhere in the world’.
‘You saw that with the way we took out Iran with those gorgeous bombers… the equipment is so good. The B-2 bomber, stealth, they never saw them.’
Trump also touched on how much he loves America’s most famous fast food chain: ‘Everyone loves something at McDonald’s. It’s always something to have.
‘I like fish. I like it. You could do a little more tartar sauce, please. I say, ‘Do you have tartar sauce?’ We’re going to pioneer new heights, new prosperity. We are doing better as a country right now, and people are seeing it,’ he added.
In a book by Michael Wolff, who has written extensively about Trump, the author claimed the President loves McDonald’s because he’s ‘terrified of being poisoned’.
He explained: ‘He had a longtime fear of being poisoned, one reason why he liked to eat at McDonald’s — nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely premade.’
In 2019, Trump famously served a buffet of McDonald’s food to Clemson football players after White House chefs walked out during a shutdown.
He said he ordered 1,000 hamburgers to the White House along with chicken nuggets and pizza.
Despite his love for the fast food restaurant, which he’s made clear over the years, in 2018, he briefly gave up his favourite cheeseburgers during a health kick.
He reportedly scaled back on his meal of Filet-o-Fish and cheeseburgers for more salads.
