Trump threatens to arrest ‘communist’ favored to be NYC mayor and strip his citizenship

President Donald Trump has threatened to arrest a man who is the favorite to be New York City’s next mayor and strip him of his US citizenship.
Zohran Mamdani, 33, a democratic socialist, hours after officially winning the Democratic primary for mayor on Tuesday defied Trump after amid a series of warnings from the Republican president.
‘The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported,’ wrote Mamdani on Instagram.
‘Not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city.’

Mamdani stated that ‘we will not accept this intimidation’.
He added that in November, ‘voters will resoundingly reject’ Trump’s praise for New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who opted out of the Democratic primary and is seeking reelection as an independent.
