SEATTLE — Nineteen turnovers and 11 missed free throws were too many. The Sky fell 79-69 to the Storm on Saturday night.
“It’s hard to get into a rhythm when we’re just giving the ball to the other team,” Michaela Onyenwere said.
The Storm turned those miscues into 30 points. Their perimeter defense also stifled the Sky, who hit just 1-of-10 from three.
“It’s a credit to Seattle in the way that they extend their pressure and pack the paint,” head coach Tyler Marsh said.
Rebounding was the Sky’s main edge. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso each grabbed 10 boards.
Reese scored a team-high 20 points and helped fuel a third-quarter run, but she missed six of her 12 free throws. Cardoso went 4-for-10 from the field, and Marsh thought a couple of early misses took away her aggressiveness.
The Sky dropped to 9-30 with five games remaining. Their next game is Wednesday at home against the Sun.
