A TWISTED predator used his new lover’s WiFi to plot the sexual abuse of babies while using the online nickname “Paedo Pay Piggy”.
Daniel Devlin was caught in a sting operation after divulging his sick fantasies in chat forums.
The 38-year-old masqueraded under a pseudonym as he attempted to arrange sexual activity with girls aged between one and seven.
His ex Rebecca Shorten has now spoken out after Devlin was jailed for five years.
She revealed her disgust at discovering her new partner, who she met on a dating site, had been using her WiFi to carry out his sick crimes.
Rebecca told Chronicle Live: “It was like my world had collapsed. I was confused, I was angry and I felt sick. I felt absolutely disgusted.
“What makes me wary is me and him really clicked, we have the same sense of humour, we got on so well so it just came as such a shock.
“It’s left me in an absolute mess. But I’m glad it’s come out. Thankfully we were only together a short time.”
Rebecca began speaking to Devlin on Badoo in September last year and “immediately hit it off”.
She said she was initially cautious about meeting up in person and even made an application under Clare’s Law, which allows women to find out if a prospective partner has a history of domestic abuse.
After passing the test, the pair became an item and soon spent most of their time travelling between each other’s homes.
But on March 31, Rebecca was horrified when police showed up at Devlin’s home and arrested him in front of her.
She said: “They came to the house at 7am. I was put in the living room and they took Daniel into the bedroom and they didn’t let me know what was going on, they just took him away.
“He had a safe in his bedroom. After the police left they had left the safe open and left his sex offender paperwork on the bed. I didn’t know what to do.”
Rebecca later discovered Devlin had been charged but only found out the true extent of his crimes when she attended Newcastle Crown Court.
Prosecutors told how the paedo had shared sick fantasies about a four-year-old and plotted to sexually abuse young girls.
Even after he was bailed, Devlin spoke to an undercover cop pretending to be a mum.
The predator sought to arrange meeting up with her to abuse her two “daughters”, aged seven and 11 months.
It was also revealed Devlin had been jailed for 15 months in 2017 for child sex offences and was on the sex offenders register.
He pleaded guilty to publishing an obscene article and two counts of breaching the sexual harm prevention order in relation to the earlier offences.
Devlin also admitted attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence and failing to comply with the sex offenders register.
Rebecca said she is now trying to move on but admitted she still speaks to the fiend for “closure”.
She added: “I don’t want to step back until he’s got the right help in place.
“I’ll never ever forgive him, but at the same time I can’t turn my back on someone that has genuinely asked for help.”
