Two boys injured in acid attack on east London high street

Two boys have been taken to hospital after acid was thrown at them during a fight in east London.

Emergency services were called to Walthamstow High Street on Wednesday afternoon to reports of two groups of boys fighting.

A liquid was thrown which was later determined to be a corrosive chemical.

Two boys were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Three 17-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

The London Ambulance said: ‘We were called at 4.40pm yesterday (October 1) to reports of an assault in Stainforth Road, Walthamstow.

‘We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.

‘We checked over three patients at the scene and took two of them to hospital.’

MP Stella Creasey said: ‘Horrific reports being made of an incident tonight in Walthamstow near the top of the market.

‘Please be assured I am seeking urgent information as to what happened and for the condition of those involved.

‘I want to be clear I recognise the recent spate of incidents worrying and am seeking further details of what actions are being taken to tackle.’
