A crash involving three vehicles killed two people early Sunday morning in southwest suburban Lemont, leading to a temporary shutdown of all northbound lanes of I-55 south of Lemont Road.
Illinois State Police confirmed two people died in the crash, and another person was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries. Police said the accident happened at 3:26 a.m.
Traffic was diverted at I-355, with ramps from I-355 to northbound I-55 closed. The roads were reopened at around 9:15 a.m., according to state police.
