Two men killed in Oakland shootings

OAKLAND — Two men were killed and another man wounded in two shootings Sunday evening and Monday morning in different parts of the city, authorities said.

The names of the men killed have not yet been released pending notification of their families.

Police do not believe the two shootings are related.

Monday’s killing happened just before 5 a.m. in the 5800 block of Coliseum Way in East Oakland.

A man was found shot in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are trying to determine a motive for the killing. No arrests have been announced.

Reports: Oakland mayor’s lawyer says she was not target of FBI raid

The Sunday shooting happened about 6:15 p.m. in the 900 block of 44th Street in North Oakland.

The two men shot, one 51 and the other 39, got their own transportation to a hospital where the 51-year-old man later died, authorities said.

Police have not said if the two men knew each other or why they were shot. No arrests have been made.

The killings bring to 44 the number of homicides investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 52 homicides in the city.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $15,000 in reward money in the 44th Street shooting and up to $10,000 in the other homicide for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.
