Two men have been stabbed at a central London Tube station within 24 hours in attacks that may be connected.

The first serious assault happened at Oxford Circus at 3.40am yesterday and the second at 1.30am today.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and a 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning.

And yesterday a 23-year old man was treated for injuries consistent with being stabbed and attended hospital for further treatment.

British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses and have released an image of a man they want to talk to.

No arrests have yet been made, but the force said the two stabbings could be linked.

While they did not specify where in the station the attacks happened, the Night Tube service runs through Oxford Circus on the Victoria and Central lines at weekends.

Neither victim’s injuries are ‘life changing or threatening’, police said.

DCI Gareth Davies said: ‘There is absolutely no place for violence on the rail network, and detectives are working at pace to investigate these two connected incidents.

‘Passengers will see an increased police presence at the station while officers carry out their enquiries.

‘We are urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen these incidents take place or events leading up to, to get in touch and assist us with our enquiries.

‘Any piece of information might be vital for our investigation.’
