Two women were fatally shot in the far South Side Washington Heights neighborhood Saturday night, Chicago police said.
Officers found the women — 68-year-old Phyllis Goolsby and a 71-year-old woman — fatally shot in the chest in the 10400 block of South Peoria Street before 11 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and police. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Goolsby’s death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner reported. The 71-year-old woman’s name has not been released.
A 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. A weapon was recovered.
