It seems summer is well and truly over as the UK is set to be hit by heavy rain over the next couple of days.

That’s bad news for commuters, as the Met Office warns that the upcoming yellow weather warnings could lead to travel disruption.

Some areas of the UK could see up to 100mm of rainfall in the next couple of days – with the possibility of causing trouble on the rails and roads.

It’s all quiet so far this Thursday morning – but the Met Office’s yellow warning for rain, in place all day across southern and western England and south Wales, says: ‘Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

‘Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

‘Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.’
