‘Urgent’ investigation into postal votes still not yet delivered by Royal Mail

Many people will not get the chance to do this with their own votes, as they didn’t arrive in time (Picture: Reuters)

There are less than 48 hours before polls open in the UK, and the General Election campaign is entering the final push.

You may be getting weary of the election leaflets coming through the door – but some people are hoping for more political post, and this time of a critical nature, as their postal votes still haven’t been delivered.

Postal affairs minister Kevin Hollinrake is ‘urgently’ investigating delays which could mean people will miss the chance to have their say.

With schools out for summer in Scotland already, some families have already left for holidays without receiving their votes.

Royal Mail says it has no backlog, but delays have been reported in 90 constituencies so there’s a problem somewhere along the line.

We’ll be following the latest on this, as well as the last minute campaigning, on our live blog today.
