RICHMOND — A man shot to death a week ago has been identified as a Richmond resident.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office identified 23-year-old Josue Cornejo publicly. He died after being shot on Nov. 17 in the Iron Triangle area of the city.
His death was one of four homicides that have been investigated this year by Richmond police.
According to police, dispatchers received an alert from a gunshot detection system in the 1400 block of Bissell Avenue near Marina Way about 5:55 a.m. Multiple callers also reported the shots being fired, police said.
Officers found Cornejo down from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
Police have not said whether somebody in a passing vehicle shot Cornejo or whether somebody confronted him on the street. They also have not stated a motive, released any suspect information or announced an arrest.
