Ten people had boarded at the Capitol Station and were traveling north when the train derailed near Capitol Expressway and Highway 87. The car rode off the crossover track while it tried to switch from southbound tracks to northbound tracks.
The passengers were taken by bus to the Curtner Light Rail station to continue traveling northbound. According to the transportation authority, VTA light rail and track maintenance crews were awaiting assistance Monday afternoon to lift the train back onto the track.
The Capitol Station was closed until further notice, and a bus bridge between Curtner and Santa Teresa will be provided for Blue Line passengers.
The Capitol Light Rail Station is the southernmost station currently operating on the Blue Line. Bus bridges are serving stations south of Capitol while the line is undergoing track maintenance until July 1.
