Toy manufacturer Mattel is set to bring its iconic brands to life by opening up its first ever theme park in the US next year.

The nine-acre Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona, promises over 25 attractions inspired by childhood favorites.

Star of the show is none other than Barbie, who takes the spotlight with a dedicated Barbie Land. Visitors will be able to explore the iconic Barbie Beach House, which comes with its own interactive retail experience where visitors can build their own Barbie set in the Barbie Dream Closet Experience using hologram technology.

Also available will be the Barbie Flying Theatre, which will allow parkgoers to embark on an epic journey from ocean depths to outer space, and the Barbie Rooftop bar, which comes complete with signature pink drinks, snacks, and sweeping views.

Mattel’s classic brands will also get a chance to take the spotlight, with Hot Wheels roller coasters and electric go-karts set to rev up the excitement while Thomas & Friends will bring seven indoor attractions for young adventurers.

An 18-hole mini-golf course turns Mattel Games into an immersive experience, featuring life-sized Pictionary and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. UNO fans can climb oversized cards on a massive structure, and thrill-seekers can drop into the Kerplunk tower.

Guests will also have the chance to go head-to-head with giant Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots and pass through a life-sized game of Pictionary, while UNO will be represented as a larger-than-life climbing structure, where guests can jump on oversized UNO cards and race to the top.

Mark Cornell, the president of Epic Resort Destinations and Mattel Adventure Park. Epic, told Blooloop: ‘There are about 25 attractions at Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale with two iconic coasters, and a World of Sodor dedicated to Thomas the Tank Engine with seven attractions.’

‘We’ve embraced all of the Mattel games. We have mini golf, we have a Kerplunk drop tower, and we have an Uno harnessless climber. We have Hot Wheels electric lithium-ion go-karts.

‘It looks like we just confirmed that it’s the largest elevated go-kart track in the world. We have Masters of the Universe laser tag. We have, obviously, the first Barbie Beach House brick and mortar in the world.’

But the Arizona park is just the beginning – Mattel also has plans for a second theme park in Kansas City, set to open in 2026 with a $487 million (£377 million) price tag.
