A crowd can be seen gathered around the chopper as it begins to take off, with nothing seeming out of the ordinary at first.
But a man stood right next to the helicopter grabs onto the landing skid as it makes its way into the air.
He can be seen clinging on as the helicopter makes its way over the trees until it’s nearly out of sight.
Stunned members of the crowd watch on, with many filming the outlandish spectacle on their phones.
Footage of the surreal moment has been shared widely on social media.
Uriri sub-county police commander Enrico Lyomu said the man had tried to beg for money from the occupants of the helicopter.
When he was denied, he asked for a ride and was refused again.
It was at this point he grabbed hold of the vehicle.
Once the pilot was aware what was happening, he made an emergency landing in a nearby field.
Police have since arrested Odhiambo Ouma, a bicycle repairman.
The 28-year-old was reportedly apprehended at his home.
He resisted arrest, forcing three officers to subdue him, according to TUKO.co.ke.
Police Commander Lyomu said: “After the incident, we began a search.
“He tried to escape and was very violent, but we managed to arrest him.
“He’ll face charges for risking lives, including his own.”
The man was relieved when the helicopter brought him back down to earth, according to local media reports.
He had begun to feel exhausted in mid-air after clinging onto the helicopter for dear life.
The jaw-dropping moment took place around Prince Indah‘s lavish wedding ceremony on Sunday.
It was held in Rapogi, Migori – in the south west of Kenya.
According to local media, one of the helicopter’s passengers was YouTuber Oga Obinna.
The incident prompted Police Commander Lyomu to warn people against attempting such dangerous stunts.
“This should serve as a warning.
“It’s extremely dangerous, and anyone attempting such acts will face legal consequences,” he is reported to have said.
