Chicago faced unprecedented challenges in 2025.

Federal immigration enforcement transformed our streets, with dramatic confrontations at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview and raids across neighborhoods and suburbs.

Massive protests erupted against the Trump administration, and we saw former House Speaker Michael Madigan sentenced.

From Northern Lights over Lake Michigan and summer heat waves to snowy L platforms, our photographers documented every moment, frame by frame.
