Who is David Lammy’s wife Nicola Green? 

Nicola Green, is a British portrait painter,  social historian, and public speaker. 

In 2012, Green followed Barack Obama’s presidential election campaign across America to create a piece she called “In Seven Days”.

It included a set of seven silk-screen prints depicting events such as his Inauguartion in Washington.

She was the first artist to depict a presidental campaign so closely in history.

According to The Times she is of Ashkenazi Jewish, Russian Orthodox and Anglican heritage, who explored atheism and other religions before returning to her Anglican faith.

Between 2008 and 2018, Green attended gatherings of religious leaders around the world to create a piece called “Encounters”.

She made life sized portraits of leaders including the Dalai Lama, Pope Francis, Ali Gomaa and Jonathan Sacks.

From January 16 to April 25, 2021, art lovers were able to sign up to a virtual viewing of her Unity exhibition at the Zuleika Gallery.

She is also a co-founder and trustee for Sophia Point,an education and conservation charity working in Guyana.

How long have David Lammy and Nicola Green been married? 

Green married Labour MP David Lammy in 2005.

They met at Harvard University in the United States.

At the time, David Lammy was pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

He was the first black Briton to study at Harvard.

David Lammy has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tottenham since 2000.

He is also known for his work as a barrister and as an advocate for social justice and equality.

After the July 2024 election and Labour being back in power it could be possible that David Lammy will become Foreign Secretary.

However, Keir Starmer has yet to confirm his new minister after he has been elected new Prime Minister at the General Elections.

In a High Profiles interview in 2020 Lammy said about Nicola: “I’m in love with my wife but I’m also in love with her art.”

Do David Lammy and Nicola Green have children? 

Green and Lammy have three children – two sons and a daughter.

For National Adoption Week in 2019 Lammy wrote in The Metro: “The best thing my wife and I ever did, along with having our two boys, was adopt our beautiful daughter.cr

“Nothing compares to the happiness and meaning she has given to our lives.”

Green has said on several occasions that many of her works take inspiration from her children’s mixed race heritage.

Her website reads: “Inspired by her own mixed-heritage children and multi-faith family, she creates and preserves religious, social, and cultural heritage for future generations.”
