Music extraordinaire
Sam first became interested in music as a child and was influenced by the songs he heard at his church.
Before enrolling at Barton College, North Carolina, he joined a Gospel choir as a teenager, where he played the drums and keyboard.
After graduating from college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue music full-time.
He arrived in the city in 2019 and performed at the Black Rabbit Rose Magic Theatre.
Eventually, his performances at Drake’s club Delilah meant he was noticed by some of the biggest stars in Hollywood including Queen of Pop Madonna and Wiz Khalifa.
Sam worked with Jamie Foxx on the film Back In Action and the movie star arranged a meeting for Sam with the head honchos at Virgin Music.
Sam’s debut album, Don’t Forget Where You Came From, landed in 2023 and introduced him to a brand-new audience.
Liam’s tragic death
Liam Payne reached stardom on X Factor when he joined One Direction, who topped the charts with their hits including Night Changes, What Makes You Beautiful and Best Song Ever.
Sadly, the star passed away on October 16, 2024, after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His former 1D bandmates began to share tributes on their social media accounts shortly after the news broke.
Sam posted his own heartfelt message in light of Liam’s death, describing him as a “happy, funny and talented brother, father and friend”.
The pair had been pals for some time but had kept their close relationship out of the public eye.

A song to comfort listeners
Sam and Liam collaborated on a track named Do No Wrong shortly before the singer’s tragic death in October 2024.
The new track will be available on November 1, 2024, and Sam has said that a live mix and an Acappella version will also be released.
He hopes the song will “eclipse the negative echoes” surrounding Liam’s death and he also hopes that the song will provide some “comfort” to listeners.
He posted on Instagram:
“I pray this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed.
“I pray angels will comfort you all every day while listening.
“I pray that this song will be a blessing to Ruth, Bear and the entire family.
“I pray that this song eclipses the negative echoes.
“I pray supernatural positive healing power will embrace each and every one of you.”
