The Amoruso Fire started just after 5 p.m. at Amoruso Way and Sunset Boulevard West, near the unincorporated community of Pleasant Grove, according to the Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit.
The blaze initially had a “critical rate of spread” and grew to 350 acres by 5:30 p.m., the agency said in a social media post. However, crews managed to stop its forward progress about 15 minutes later.
As of 6:10 p.m., the fire covered 502 acres and was 60% contained. No evacuations were ordered.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
