A 25-year-old woman was shot and killed late Friday in the West Chatham neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
The woman was walking in an alley near the 8000 block of South Harvard Avenue around 5:20 p.m. when she heard a loud noise and realized she had been shot, authorities said.
She was struck in the head and transported to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead, police said.
No one was in custody, police said.
