Woman, 33, ‘repeatedly told police boyfriend was going to kill her just days before he strangled her to death at home’

A WOMAN repeatedly told police her boyfriend was going to kill her just days before he strangled her to death, a court heard.

Tara Kershaw, 33, called 999 on a number of occasions between November 24, January 1, 5 and 6.

Her body was discovered at her home in Great Yarmouth on January 19 after her partner Adam Barnard approached police officers in the town to tell them: “I think I killed my partner”.

Jurors heard in her final call to cops, Tara said “he” was going to “come and beat her up” and kill her.

When officers arrived at her home, she told them “I’m scared for my life” and said she thought she might get “killed tonight”.

Norwich Crown Court heard Tara also claimed Barnard had told her “I’m going to kill you” and threatened to snap her neck.

She added: “He was strangling me – he was trying to kill me.”

Barnard also allegedly told his girlfriend that he couldn’t have her, “no one else will” and made regular threats to kill her.

The court was told the pair had been in a “volatile” relationship for around a year before Tara’s death.

A post mortem revealed evidence of “two episodes” of previous fractures to Tara’s larynx or voice box in the weeks before she died.

Neighbours also heard screaming coming from the property around a month before the horror, jurors were told.

Barnard denies murder and manslaughter.
