A woman was killed when a U.S. Postal Service van collided with her car Saturday in suburban Des Plaines.
The worker, a 48-year-old man, was driving a USPS Mercedes-Benz van about 10 a.m. south in the 1700 block of Mannheim Road when he drifted into oncoming lanes, lost control of the vehicle and struck a woman driving a Chrysler Sebring, according to Des Plaines police.
The woman, identified as Laurie Jensen, 65, from Mt. Prospect, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died, police said.
The man was hospitalized, but his condition wasn’t released. He was cited with improper lane usage and is due in court Jan. 16, police said.
Police are investigating.
