A woman died after being found on fire inside an abandoned Englewood apartment building Monday night, according to Chicago police.
Chicago police and firefighters responded to a call of a fire at the shuttered building in the 5900 block of South Morgan Street at 10:05 p.m. and found the victim, estimated to be around 50-years-old, “on fire and unresponsive,” police said.
Police tried to extinguish the flames until firefighters got there and put the fire, which left “multiple burns about the body,” out, police said.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
The cause of the fire not known and is under investigation by the police arson unit and the fire department .
