Woman killed in Aurora hit-and-run on Colfax, at I-225 on ramp

A woman died Sunday night in a hit-and-run on East Colfax Avenue in Aurora, at the Interstate 225 on ramp, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run on westbound Colfax just before 10 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Aurora police department.

When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian who had already died from her injuries, police said in the release.

The woman was hit by a car, and the driver fled the scene after the crash, police said. Officers had not been able to find any witnesses or identify any suspects as of Monday morning.

Another pedestrian was killed Saturday night on northbound I-225 in Aurora, about six miles south of where the woman was hit.

That crash happened near Parker Road when an unidentified man, 62, tried to cross multiple lanes in busy traffic and was hit by two cars, police said. He died from his injuries.

Both victims will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
