A woman was killed and a man injured when their vehicle went out of control, up an embankment and into a tree Thursday night on Interstate 57 on the South Side.
The crash happened around 9:10 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-57 south of Halsted Street, Illinois State Police said.
The unidentified woman, who was driving a Chevrolet Impala, died at the scene, state police said. The man was taken to an area hospital where his condition wasn’t immediately available.
Southbound lanes of I-57 were shut down until about 1:50 a.m., state police said.
No further information was immediately available.
