A worker was injured Saturday morning when a portion of a sidewalk collapsed beneath him in the Loop.
Part of the sidewalk caved in as the 49-year-old man was working outside about 9:30 a.m. in the 100 block of West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago police said.
He fell one floor down to a lower level and injured his head, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition.
No other injuries were reported, and no other information was available.
