The 19-year-old father killed in a ‘targeted’ incident with a vehicle has been named and pictured for the first time.

Brandon Kershaw was found lying in the road with serious injuries Monday evening on Porritt Street in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Later in the evening, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

The father-of-one has been remembered by his family as a ‘kind-hearted’ young man.

‘We are all truly shocked and heartbroken by the sudden loss of Brandon. He was a gentle, kind-hearted young man whose warmth and social nature touched everyone around him,’ they said in a statement.

‘Brandon was a devoted dad to his young daughter, whom he loved deeply.

‘His family meant everything to him, and the bond he shared with his mum was incredibly special; they were best friends.’

His family added: ‘As we come to terms with this devastating news, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and support one another through this difficult time.’

Brandon’s social media showed him laughing with friends and smiling alongside his young daughter.

One woman, who knew Brandon, told Metro she was ‘shocked’.

‘It’s so sad, I can’t believe it,’ she said.

Officer David Moores said: ‘From enquiries so far, we believe Brandon died from the impact of the vehicle and despite best efforts of emergency services, Brandon sadly passed away due to the severity of his injuries.

‘We still have people of interest we are keen to speak to.

‘The driver of the vehicle remains outstanding and relentless efforts are currently being conducted by specialist units to locate him.’

Yesterday, police reassured the public the incident was a ‘targeted attack’, and there was no wider threat to the community.

Local Primary School St Paul’s CE was closed yesterday as officers investigated.
