President Trump took to Twitter on Thursday night to tout a Fox News report that Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) endeavored to reach the creator of the dubious dossier linking Trump to Russia.

“Wow! -Senator Mark Warner got caught having extensive contact with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch,” Trump tweeted. “Warner did not want a ‘paper trail’ on a ‘private’ meeting (in London) he requested with Steele of fraudulent Dossier fame. All tied into Crooked Hillary.”

Fox News reported before at night that Warner had “broad contact” a year ago with lobbyist Adam Waldman, whose firm reportedly likewise has connections to previous Democratic presidential chosen one Hillary Clinton.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who additionally sits on the Intelligence Committee, rejected the report in a tweet Thursday, taking note of that Warner “completely revealed” the contacts to the committee and saying they had “zero effect” on the committee’s investigation.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is one of a few congressional boards examining Russian endeavors to meddle in the 2016 race.

Warner, the committee’s best Democrat, said in January that “remarkably essential” new records had been gotten by the committee in its continuous test.
