2X All-Star Signs with Milwaukee Bucks G-League Affiliate

The Milwaukee Bucks have gotten off to a solid start in the 2025-26 season. Giannis Antetokounmpo and co. have looked a bit better than they did at this point last year. It seems that good things are ahead for them.

The biggest weekend news though, came from their G-League club. The Wisconsin Herd signed a 2X NBA All-Star on Sunday. Victor Oladipo, who last appeared in an NBA game three seasons ago, is going to be joining the club as his comeback continues.

Still just 33 years of age, Oladipo certainly has time on his side as he looks to find his place in the association again.

Victor Oladipo Returns to Primetime

The biggest hurdle during Victor Oladipo’s prime in the NBA was overcoming injuries. After a career year with the Indiana Pacers, he suffered a ruptured quadriceps tendon. This was halfway through a year which followed a near first-round upset of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was at an All-Star level for the second consecutive campaign at the time.

There was a very brief run with John Wall in Houston, before a trade to the Miami Heat. Injuries  though, were bad enough to the point that he was hardly able to play. He logged just eight regular season games in 2021-22, but was able to get healthy for the postseason run in Miami. The Indiana product going down as he did in 2023 put a huge cloud of haze over his professional hoops future.

Oladipo suffered a ruptured patella tendon during the 2023 postseason, and it was going to be a long road back.

After staying the course, opportunity knocked again. Oladipo spent some time with the Guangzhou Loon-Lions, a team filled with former NBA players. He started a pair of exhibition games against the San Antonio Spurs in the preseason, which gave him a chance to showcase the ability he possessed. And there was certainly a lot to see.

Seen below is a possession that ended with Victor Oladipo throwing down an alley-oop dunk. The bounce hasn’t left.

A Role for Victor Oladipo with the Bucks?

The biggest question for NBA stars who come back through the G-League, is if a role will be available for them. For Isaiah Thomas, who spent just one game in the G, there wasn’t a path to minutes after joining the Phoenix Suns.

Plenty of veterans have come back to the top by going this route. This is the best chance to showcase to league GM’s that the ability hasn’t disappeared, and that serious contributions can still be made. The all-time call-up list has some incredible names.

As Victor Oladipo continues his journey, there could definitely be an opportunity with the Milwaukee Bucks here. Though 6-4 to open the year, their wing play has been a little inconsistent at times. Kyle Kuzma has had a very efficient start, while Taurean Prince and Amir Coffey have struggled to produce.

One G-League star has already shined here. Ryan Rollins went from ‘fringe’ NBA player, to being the standout starting point guard in Milwaukee this season. There is a real, proven route to success.

Oladipo could hypothetically provide extra depth at that wing spot. His ability to knock down shots and get into the passing lanes on the other end could provide real value. While his best days are behind him, it’s worth noting again that at his peak, he was sensational.

All they need are flashes of the guy he used to be. At the least, a 10-day contract could be in the cards for Victor Oladipo.
