The Los Angeles Rams addressed one of their more pressing lingering items, agreeing to terms on a three-year, $32 million contract extension with 2023 Pro Bowler and running back Kyren Williams. He expressed his gratitude for his payday in a powerful way.
Williams was the No. 164 overall pick of the 2022 draft. Moreover, he has logged back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns.
He posted “Thank You God” in reaction to the deal, sharing a Bible verse on Instagram.
Williams set career highs in 2024, rushing for 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns on 316 attempts for the Rams during the regular season. His future had loomed large over the Rams. However, head coach Sean McVay has consistently expressed faith that a deal would get done.
He just was not sure when.
Rams Deliver on HC Sean McVay’s Comments About Kyren Williams

McVay noted that while there was quiet on the outside, Williams’ reps and the Rams had been in talks “behind the scenes,” and praised the player and his camp’s handling of the situation.
“He’s done everything in his power to show up, be that pro, that leader – everything that we’ve asked. And so, we’re trying to be able to solve that. And if we’re able to land that, we’ll be excited about that,” McVay told reporters in June. “There has been progress in terms of getting closer to what the end goal is, and that’s to be able to get him under contract.”
McVay hedged, saying he was uncertain if a deal would get done before the regular season. That played into previous comments from Rams general manager Les Snead. Snead was clear that Williams’ future did not hinge on getting a deal this summer.
Snead called Williams “a great human” and noted they “all” wanted it “to work out.”
Still, instead of waiting until next offseason as Snead suggested was a possibility, they got the deal done now.
“It’s just, can we agree upon a contract where we both feel like (it) is a win-win moving forward,” Snead said, per TheRams.com’s Stu Jackson in March. “And if it doesn’t happen this year, it doesn’t mean that Kyren’s not going to be a part (of the Rams) next year.”
This deal puts Williams’ future with the Rams to rest, barring some unforeseen change.
Rams RB Room Stacked

Williams ranks third in rushing yards over the 2023 and 2024 regular seasons combined. He is also third in carries and tied for the 10th-highest yards per attempt among backs with at least 100 carries in that span.
In a potential remedy, the Rams selected former Auburn Tigers star Jarquez Hunter in the fourth round of the 2025 draft.
He joins a room that already includes past contributor Ronnie Rivers and 2024 third-rounder Blake Corum.
The Rams ranked 16th in rushing attempts and 24th in yards gained on the ground last season.
Getting more production from the group behind Williams will take pressure off him. It will also help Matthew Stafford in the passing game. That could be key, with the QB already dealing with injury concerns.
