After a magical major week of golf at Royal Portrush, the PGA Tour returns home to Minnesota of all places for the 3M Open.
That’s nothing new as it pertains to the Tour schedule, but it is always jarring to watch the world’s best golfers go from playing The Open Championship at a course like Portrush to returning stateside to take on TPC Twin Cities.
Certainly, the 3M Open doesn’t have the same sort of allure The Open Championship boasts. And no, a win in Minnesota can’t compare to lifting the Claret Jug on the world’s most historic courses. But as players shift back to life on the PGA Tour in America, these are big events for those trying to crack the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Here’s the quick, need-to-know info about the 3M Open.
Course: TPC Twin Cities
Location: Blaine, Minn.
Par: 71
Yardage: 7,431
Architect: Arnold Palmer
Defending champion: Jhonattan Vegas
As for what kind of challenge TPC Twin Cities presents, it’s not dissimilar to most courses in the TPC network outside of Sawgrass. Put another way: It’s pretty easy for PGA Tour pros. The tournament, formerly a Champions Tour tournament, came onto the Tour in 2019. The average winning score over that time is 20.5 under par.
There’s nothing particularly special or unique about this course and the test it presents. The greens are big. The fairways are pretty wide. The rough isn’t very penal. Basically, if you can hit it far and can ball-strike, you’re going to have a chance. At that point, it comes down to a bit of a putting contest. Again, back to normal on the Tour.
Here’s a look at the top of the betting board, all the way down to players who are 40-1 to win the 3M Open with odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.
3M Open Odds: First Look at Top of the Board
Sam Burns (16-1)
Chris Gotterup (18-1)
Maverick McNealy (20-1)
Wyndham Clark (25-1)
Max Greyserman (28-1)
Taylor Pendrith (28-1)
Jake Knapp (35-1)
Tony Finau (35-1)
Davis Thompson (35-1)
Rickie Fowler (35-1)
Akshay Bhatia (40-1)
Michael Thorbjornsen (40-1)
Kurt Kitayama (40-1)
Keith Mitchell (40-1)
Emiliano Grillo (40-1)
Sungjae Im (40-1)
Si Woo Kim (40-1)
All things considered, it’s not a bad collection of B-level PGA Tour players. While there aren’t any slam-dunk Ryder Cup players in this field, for example, there are at least recognizable names. That speaks to the importance put on the playoffs and making a final push down the stretch to get into the playoffs, or in the case of a Burns, Gotterup or McNealy, try to lock down a Ryder Cup roster spot.
Wyndham Clark Trending in Right Direction Ahead of 3M Open
One player who might be worth a look for bettors and DFS players alike after looking at the 3M Open odds this week is Clark at 25-1. He might have the highest ceiling of anyone in the field, but he obviously hasn’t lived up to it for much of this season. Clark has made more headlines this season for acting like a dope than he has for playing good golf.
However, the 2023 U.S. Open champion is showing signs of life. After missing the cut and destroying some property at Oakmont Country Club in June, Clark has two top-20 finishes in his last three starts. That includes a wildly impressive performance at the 2025 British Open where he finished tied for fourth despite shooting a first-round 76. In fact, Clark and Bryson DeChambeau scored better than eventual champion Scottie Scheffler over the final three days at Royal Portrush, playing those 54 holes at 16-under.
Clark should have some success in the Twin Cities where he’ll have some room to breathe and won’t be penalized for the occasional wayward drive.
