Aaron Glenn Has Alarming Confession After Jets Loss to Dolphins

The New York Jets got blown out 34-10 against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14.

After the game, head coach Aaron Glenn made an alarming confession about what went wrong.

“This game was definitely disappointing. It’s really hard to try to put this into words. The only thing that I can say is I didn’t have these guys ready to play, and that was obvious by the way we went out there and played. So I have to take a look at myself, take a look at the staff, take a look at the players, and come back next week and get ourselves ready to play a good team that is playing well right now,” Coach Glenn said.

“Again, this was a tough one. We have to eat it, we have to move on, and we have to try and improve next week. That is the only thing that we can do, and that’s what we have been doing. So no finger-pointing in this one, again, this is on me, and I’ve got to get our guys better going into next week,” Coach Glenn explained.

Coach Glenn Attempts to Explain What Went Wrong

A media member followed up by asking Coach Glenn when he first realized that he didn’t have his players ready to go.

“To me, anytime your team just plays overall like this, that’s how I look at it. So it’s not just offense or defense or special teams, it’s overall when we don’t play up to par, to me that is the head coach,” Coach Glenn said. “I have to look at exactly what I did during the week to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”

The Jets have been blown out three times this season. They were outmatched in the Week 2 home game versus the Buffalo Bills. It was a bloodbath in the Week 5 home contest versus the Dallas Cowboys. Plus, there was this home loss to the Dolphins.

In all of the other games, the Jets either lost by one score or the game was hanging in the balance in the fourth quarter.

Coach Glenn not having the team ready for a home contest against a division rival is disconcerting. Especially against an opponent you had already played previously. This was supposed to be a good temperature check of Glenn as a coach. What did he learn from the first matchup that he could exploit in the second one?

The only successful thing that occurred was the Isaiah Williams revenge game. After having two costly mistakes in Week 4 against Miami, he bounced back in this contest.

Williams was targeted three times in the passing game and finished with two receptions for 24 yards.

In the return game, Williams fielded two kickoff returns for 69 yards. He averaged 34.5 yards per return. On punts, Williams had three returns for 91 yards and averaged 30.3 yards per return. It was highlighted by a 78-yard punt return touchdown to the house. This was Williams’ second punt return touchdown of the season.

Jets Run Defense Issues Are Very Much Real

The Atlanta Falcons gashed the Jets in Week 13. Gang Green allowed 167 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Head coach Aaron Glenn chalked it up as a blip on the radar.

It wasn’t a blip.

In Week 14, the Jets performed even worse in that department. They allowed 239 yards rushing and three touchdowns versus the Dolphins.

“That’s BS. You can’t give up 250 yards rushing. It’s that simple. You can’t give it up. You have to fix it,” Coach Glenn said.
