Aaron Glenn Makes Alarming Admission After Another Blowout Jets Loss

The New York Jets’ 2025 season mercifully came to an end on Sunday, in the final regular-season game played at Highmark Stadium.

The Buffalo Bills, resting their starters ahead of their postseason push, dismantled the Jets en route to a 35-8 victory.

Josh Allen took the first snap of the game to keep his iron man streak alive, paving the way for backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky to come in and dissect New York’s practice squad secondary to the tune of 259 yards and four touchdowns to no interceptions.

Over the Jets’ final five games of the regular season, they were outscored 188-54 and didn’t win a single game.

First-year head coach Aaron Glenn was never likely to be fired after one season, but the way this year finished, his seat will be incredibly warm heading into 2026.

Aaron Glenn Takes Responsibility for Jets’ Failures

A dejected Glenn met with the media following the loss on Sunday evening and shouldered the blame for the disappointing start to his tenure as head coach of the New York Jets.

“Obviously, man, the game was disappointing. And the only thing that I can think about is moving on to next year. And taking this whole season… I let the players down. I’ll let the organization down. And that burns me. It really does,” Glenn admitted to reporters.

This was not expected of where we are this season. And I understand that. But here’s what I do know. I know the reason why I came here.  And I am not going to waver from my beliefs on what I think wins games in this league, and I am very confident in myself.”

I’m very confident in this organization. I’m very confident in our owner. I’m very confident in Moog, (GM Darren Mougey) and we’re going to work our ass off to get this exactly where it needs to be. And I do know that. But I’ll tell you this, this season’s on me. It’s on me. And I get that. But I’ll tell you this, we’re going to work our ass off starting tomorrow to make sure we get this right.”

If there’s something you can give Glenn credit for, it’s taking the heat for the incredibly disappointing 3-14 season.

Throughout the year, the coach had been criticized for his perceived arrogance in press conferences.

Today, Glenn was self-aware and humble after the blowout defeat.

Why Are the Jets Hanging onto Aaron Glenn?

Despite the calls for Glenn to be one-and-done, it seems that the New York Jets are keen on keeping their head coach for at least one more season.

But why? New York is one of the worst teams in the NFL this season and has shown little to no growth, especially over the back half of the season.

The answer is likely monetary.

The New York Daily News’ Gary Myers reported on Saturday that Glenn is only in the first year of a five-year, $50 million deal to coach the Jets.

With four years and nearly $40 million remaining on the contract, all Jets fans can do is hope Glenn figures it out in year two as an NFL head coach.
