Alan Shearer has delivered his Premier League predictions with another packed weekend of action looming large.

A huge clash in north London gets us started on Saturday as Tottenham host Manchester United in a repeat of last season’s Europa League final.

Liverpool look to be back on track after wins over Aston Villa and Real Madrid and head to the Etihad on Sunday as they renew hostilities with Manchester City.

Whatever happens there, Arsenal will still be top of the pile this weekend and are out to extend their lead at the top on Saturday with a tricky assignment away to Sunderland.

As ever, England legend and Betfair ambassador Alan Shearer has revealed his Premier League predictions to Metro.

Tottenham vs Manchester United

It’s such a tough one to call. After Spurs’ performance against Chelsea – that was the worst performance under Thomas Frank that Tottenham have had. They weren’t a threat at all.

Man United went to Nottingham Forest and got a decent point. I’ll go for a draw here which I don’t think will be a bad result for both clubs.

The result last week was a good result for Man United because I think Nottingham Forest will improve and be tough to beat under Sean Dyche. Again, you have to say if Man United are going to be making big improvements by getting results at tough grounds, this is going to be one of them.

You can imagine it’ll be another huge statement again. If they can go to Liverpool and win like they did then they can certainly go to Tottenham and win in a different way. That’s why I think it’s so difficult to predict. A month ago, I’d have said Spurs would definitely win but because of Man United’s recent results, they have to keep going and go one step further.

Prediction – Draw

Everton v Fulham

It was a good result for Fulham last time out. They had to win and did very comfortably. It’ll be very different going to Everton with the way they play and the stadium.

I know they were beaten at home by Tottenham the last time they were there but I do think it’ll be different this time and that’s why I’ll go for an Everton win.

I think Everton will be fine from relegation but they’re desperate for a centre-forward and they need someone who can put the ball in the net, which is easier said than done. If they can get someone in January to help that then they’ll be fine but if they don’t, it’ll be a tough season. I’d be convinced they have enough to stay away from relegation.

Prediction – Everton win

West Ham v Burnley

Burnley will go to West Ham and try to spoil the party. It was a great result against Newcastle for West Ham – they thoroughly deserved it. They made Newcastle look awful and will be looking for the same again.

Freddie Potts was man of the match for me last time out and they’ll be looking to continue that form this weekend. Burnley will be tough but because of what happened last weekend, West Ham will be a bit more optimistic. West Ham may do the same again and get all three points.

Last week has to be a turning point for West Ham. There’s no point getting a result against Newcastle to then lose at home to Burnley.

Prediction – West Ham win

Sunderland v Arsenal

I don’t think Arsenal will concede this weekend again because of the form they’re in. Sunderland weren’t great in the week, but they’ve had an unbelievable start. When Sunderland are disappointed at not beating Everton, that tells you how impressive they’ve been. But with the form Arsenal have been in, how tight and mean they are at the back, I do think they’ll take all three points.

When you look at the fact Man City and Liverpool are playing each other, they’ll be desperate for that to be a draw and then Arsenal take three points to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Prediction – Arsenal win

Chelsea v Wolves

Chelsea will have too much for Wolves. They were dreadful last weekend, and the manager paid the price by losing his job. They’re yet to appoint a manager. Whoever goes in there has a nigh on impossible job of keeping them up. I don’t see anyone in that squad who would give me hope of avoiding relegation. The club haven’t helped themselves at all by not replacing Cunha or Ait-Nouri.

They can only blame themselves for lack of preparation, but I also don’t see enough fight or ability that tells me they can avoid relegation this year.

Prediction – Chelsea win

Aston Villa v Bournemouth

I was slightly disappointed with Aston Villa last weekend because with the form they’ve been in, I expected a bigger fight. It may have been a different game if Morgan Rogers’ shot that hit the post goes in.

Bournemouth were punished against Man City and were all over the place defensively but with Aston Villa being in Europe in midweek and Bournemouth having a free week, I’ll go for an away win. I think they’ll use that to their advantage.

Prediction – Bournemouth win

Brentford v Newcastle

Newcastle let us down last weekend. They were slightly better against Bilbao and had to win that game. Anthony Gordon went off injured, but I guess he may have been left out anyway. I’ll go for an away win and put my faith in Newcastle again. They will have to defend well from set-pieces because that’s a great strength of Brentford’s. I’ll go for an away win because Newcastle have to improve their away form.

If you look at the bigger picture, Newcastle are flying in the Champions League with three wins, they’re in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup so there’s plenty to work on and look forward to, but they have to improve away from home. Last week was unacceptable and you can maybe accept one of those a season, but you can’t have any more than that.

With the money spent and ability in that team, Newcastle shouldn’t be lingering in the bottom five or bottom four.

Prediction – Newcastle win

Crystal Palace v Brighton

It should be a cracker and that’s why I’ll sit on the fence and say it’ll be a draw. Because of the rivalry it’ll be a great atmosphere.

Brighton will have all week to prepare for this, and Crystal Palace are in Europe again. They seem to have coped pretty well with that until now. They had a great result last weekend but with it being a derby I’ll go for a draw.

Prediction – Draw

Nottingham Forest v Leeds

I’ve never thought that Leeds wouldn’t be in a relegation battle. We’ve always said that it’ll be about their home form if they are to stay up and their season is pretty much going on as I thought.

They’ve certainly got enough to stay up and that’s why there’s been so much panic with manager’s losing jobs because of what Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland have done but I still think Leeds will be there or thereabouts and it’ll be tight for them.

I do think Nottingham Forest will have too much for them on Sunday. If it was at Elland Road, I’d be swayed but away from home I don’t see Leeds getting three points.

It’d be a disaster for Nottingham Forest to drop points at home to what is going to be one of their rivals in the bottom half of the league. There were plenty of improvements last weekend against Man United which they’ll take confidence from and I think they’ll have too much for Leeds.

Prediction – Nottingham Forest win

Manchester City v Liverpool

These two have set the pace for so long. It’s been an amazing rivalry and will be a fabulous occasion and a great game. Both teams will be desperate to win and Arsenal will be desperate for a draw to keep both at bay. I think it’ll be a score draw.

Manchester City v Bournemouth - Premier League

Liverpool like to play a high line which will suit Haaland, but they had so much more protection in midweek against Real Madrid and more of it last weekend. They have to carry that on which will be tough with Man City in decent form and Haaland looks unplayable at the moment.

There are interesting battles all over the pitch. Van Dijk and Konate v Haaland is one I’m really looking forward too.

Prediction – Draw
